Eureka awarded new Sage Certified Solutions accreditation

Sage Certified SolutionsEureka Solutions has been awarded official certification from business software giant Sage for a product which provides seamless integration between Sage 50 Accounts and non-Sage products, Data Exchange.

Sage Certified Solutions is a new accreditation launched by Sage and Eureka Solutions is one of only five UK developers to have received this status.

The accreditation has been introduced to provide an enhanced level of consistency, predictability, and confidence to customers, developers, and Sage Business Partners alike. Both end users and resellers of these “certified” solutions can be assured they follow certain standards and have passed rigorous independent tests for installation and usage.

 “We are delighted to have achieved certification for this product, which can only further endorse the quality of what is our best-selling product,” explained David Lindores, Product Development Manager at Eureka Solutions.

“Data Exchange improves business efficiency by transferring information such as orders, product information and stock levels between Sage and the 3rd party system while removing duplication from the process. The certification of this product reaffirms our status as one of the leading Sage Developers in the UK.”

Sage Certified Solutions is the latest endorsement by Sage of Eureka’s technical expertise. The company won Sage Developer of the Year 2009 and Sage Custom Solutions Partner of the Year 2010, beating over 900 other UK developers to the awards. They were also the first Sage Developer to be accredited to work on the Sage 200 Suite, Sage’s mid-market business management solution.

Sage 200 Bespoke Development – Certificates of Conformity

A prospective client was interested in Sage 200 Suite as their business management system. One of the areas of the company is the supply of products where each batch legally requires a certificate of conformity to be distributed with them. Full traceability is also essential for any product recall purposes. The certificates detail the properties and tolerances of the products being despatched.

This functionality being available in Sage 200 was an essential part of any deal and our development team were tasked with customising the system to the client’s requirements.

Solution

The certificates of conformity were only required for one product group, which contains batch items only. Each stock item in the group must hold a “Master Specification” which have a set of tolerance field held against it. These fields are then used to determine if the classification meets the requirements. The fields include chemical analysis and mechanical properties of the rods.

At the point of goods received these details are updated in the system when the batch is assigned. The user must enter in the tolerance of each field. These values will not be mandatory unless there is a tolerance set on the master record. If they are mandatory the field must have a value or it cannot be saved. If a value entered is outside the tolerance, the user is warned with a popup. If no master record exists the user is warned and the system will not allow it to be saved.

An import routine was created to allow the company to import existing batches into Sage 200. At this point the data will then be held in Sage 200 and sales orders can be created for the batch items. These are created as in standard Sage 200.

For each despatch line on the despatch, and each batch on that line, a test certificate is printed so that it can be despatched with the products. Each test certificate has a unique incremental number which is generated automatically.

Featured Addon: Cross-Sales for Sage 200 Suite

Sage-200-Sales-Order-Plus-logoCross-Sales for the Sage 200 Suite is an addon within our Sage 200 Sales Order Plus module that allows related products to be associated with each other, and alert the user of this when entering an order. For example, a torch requires a certain battery to work, so these two products could be linked. The user would then get a notification, stating the battery type and quantity that are required for the torch to work.

Maximise Cross-Selling Opportunities

The benefit of this addon is that your sales executives can maximise cross-selling, whether it be via telesales or over the counter. An added benefit is that the customer experience can be improved. For example, by using the Cross Sales addon the customer would not buy the torch and later discover that they have the wrong batteries for the product. The sales executive would be able to inform them of this at the time of purchase.

Easy to Set Up

A setting screen allows preferences and linked products to be easily set up. The administrator can decide if they want the notification to launch when a user adds a line or when they leave the quantity box.

Linked products can be set up against each stock item, along with the required quantities of each, e.g. a torch requires four AA batteries.

Sage 50 Accounts 2012 – Out Now!

Sage 50 Accounts 2012Sage 50 Accounts 2012 is available from 1st August and is a landmark release of the market leading accounts software package.

This release has been driven by feedback from customers and stakeholders and there are 3 key areas of improvement – speed of the system, mobile access and improved usability. The key highlights of the new release are listed below:

Performance

Significant investment has been made to improve the performance of Sage 50 Accounts 2012. This will deliver an improved general performance, including network performance and speed of data transfer between server and client which will:

  • Reduce the waiting time for concurrent users saving or interrogating transactions/records
  • Improve the time it takes to perform a Swap, Search or Sort on lists of records/transactions
  • Improve the time it takes to open a Record Activity or run an Activity Report
  • Improve the time it takes to run reports and layouts
  • Improve performance within the quotes and fund ledgers

Mobile Access with Sage 50 Mobile

Sage 50 Accounts 2012 provides the ability to gain read and write access to Sage 50 Accounts data via a mobile smartphone or internet connected device. Sage 50 Mobile will provide a simple, fast overview of business financial performance including customers, suppliers and overall financial position, secure access to live data and the ability to administer different levels of access to different users.

Lock Date

Sage 50 Accounts 2012 has the ability to set a ‘Lock Date’, which will restrict users from posting to a date that has been deemed as ‘locked’. As this is typically around Month and Year End, this functionality is also linked to the Month End and Year End routines. The benefit of this is that users will not be able to post transactions into periods where the month end has been run and accounts produced.

Chart of Accounts

Sage 50 Accounts 2012 contains a refreshed list of nominal codes and provides the ability to setup as different business types (e.g. limited company and partnership, not just a sole trader). It also shows profit before and after tax in the profit and loss and makes editing the Chart of Accounts easier by providing a preview pane.

International Payments

Sage 50 Accounts 2012 provides a service that allows customers to make international payments. Sage International Payments is a new multiple currency payment service that can help you save time and money. Delivered in conjunction with Transfermate, Sage International Payments offers you better exchange rates than the bank, no transfer fees and faster payments compared to any bank or foreign exchange company in the UK.
