With the amount of data collected and stored within a business increasing daily, many businesses are looking for a quick and easy way to access and use the information that flows around their business.

The systems within a business can mass vast back logs of reports and statistics that may have lain dormant over the years. With no clear idea on how the data can be developed and used to their advantage, intelligence is often lost.

This lost intelligence can, however, be clawed back. The historic data stored within these systems and databases is very powerful. The only problem is finding a way of extracting it and using it in an effective manner. Using a reporting tool such as Data Discovery a business user is able to pull specific data out of any software system or database and exploit it to find answers to their questions. Patterns and trends can therefore be identified using associative analysis, helping the user to foresee future risks and opportunities.

Analysing historic data is an important part of understanding the dynamics of a business in terms of past progression and future development. Knowing the nature of your data and how to interpret the results is very beneficial in creating a strong decision making process. It is very valuable information that is both cost effective and relevant to the business.

Visibility of information within the business drives better business performance.

Business users shouldn’t just be end users who passively consume what others produce for them. Associative analysis gives users access to information that is vital in helping the business to increase revenue, project margins and improve profitability.

Latest Development: Import/Export from Sage 200

One of our clients was in the process of upgrading from Line 100 to Sage 200. In the past they would export data out of Sage for a JD Edwards system and import particular data back into Sage.  The client was looking for this process to continue within the new system.

Using our Data Exchange for Sage 200 module we were able to automate the import and export of information in and out of Sage 200. Amending the Data Exchange module ensured specific file formats were imported/exported correctly. A mapping exercise was also carried out prior to the programming commencing to match the fields in the files required for JD Edwards and to ensure that the field formats match.

Each call-off from a customer requires an order number recording which has to be printed on despatch notes and invoices relating to that call-off. In order to ensure this was part of the new system, a new field was added to the despatch/return screen to allow the customer call-off order number to be entered. The numbers are stored against the Despatch Header and are therefore available to print on the despatch notes and invoices.

The Scottish Technology Showcase Event

On the 12th of June 2012 we exhibited at the annual Scottish Technology Showcase Event at the SECC in Glasgow. The Showcase event is Scotland’s biggest gathering of Technology professionals and was open to all that develop or produce innovative solutions/products for businesses.

As a keen advocate of developing technology, we were very eager to showcase some of our inventive solutions to other delegates. Demonstrating both QlikView – a business intelligence solution, and Sage CRM – a customer relationship management system, we had a brilliant opportunity to show the true benefits of each product using live data and interactive screens.

Overall the day was a great success with many delegates showing a keen interest in the different solutions we had on display.

May 2012 saw the launch of Sage CRM v7.1 SP2 in the UK. This release delivers a wealth of new features that provide an enhanced user interface for a simpler user experience. The new features include:

Cross Browser Compatibility
